I was reading online that when the US WNT roster for Olympics was announced, it went viral on Brazilian X, as the volleyball fans in Brazil couldn't believe Micha was left off the roster.

I can’t believe it either. I feel like she is playing her best volleyball right now….even stronger than last quad. This has to be a “political” decision. 🙄

Karch is extremely competitive and also concerned about his reputation as a coach. He will pick the team that he thinks gives him the best chance of winning. He might be wrong about not picking Micha but I don't think it was for any reason other than his evaluation of the players to win a gold medal.

Course if the USA women's team win's gold, Karch is a genius. I heard a funny comparison on a VNL broadcast of a US men's match. The announcer said that when a team that has a lot of players up in age loses, they're "old". When they win, they're "experienced". It all depends on perspective . On the US men's roster, Defalco is 27, Micah Ma'a is 27, Jeff Jendryk is 28. On the other end David Smith is 39, Matt Anderson is 37 as is Max Holt. Average age of US men's team is 32.42 years. Another good reason for Micah to be on the Olympic roster is that both of the US men's setters first name is Micah. Wouldn't you think that Karch would follow suit?

I was surprised when I saw Plummer on the Olympic roster; especially with her serve receive problems and her very average defense. Then I thought, with Robinson-Cook and Larson probably starting, the serve receive for the US will probably be pretty good. Which means that the US setter will be able to set the middles and be able to get the opposites some pretty good sets. Which "should" solve the US offense problems. So what would be Plummers role? I would think that it would be as a server sub and instant offence off of the bench. If the US offense is having issues, then put in Plummer; problem solved. (Hopefully).
There's a change in the Volleyball format for the 2024 Olympics. There will be 3 pools of 4 instead of 2 pools of 6. So instead of 2 round robins of 6 teams, there will be 3 round robins of 4 teams. So the teams advancing to the knock-out round with be the 1st and 2nd place finishers in the 3 pools, with the last 2 teams being the best 2 third place finishers.
I'm sorry about this change as it will mean less volleyball to watch. Oh well.

^ In my flawed opinion, I think it's only a matter of time before some of the Commonwealth Campuses merge, or close.
