Any word on when the schedule is expected to drop? I'm curious to see what pre-conference teams PSU will face. I'm hoping sometime in my lifetime.
I'm too old to wait. You young ones have that luxury.

I heard Stivrins is also returning to Nebraska, but she is rehabbing her back.

Do we think that the BiG will adopt this experiment? If a conference chooses not to use this approach, may we assume that the current video review rules will still apply?

Do we think that the BiG will adopt this experiment? If a conference chooses not to use this approach, may we assume that the current video review rules will still apply? The announcement says, yes, old rules would apply. There's also more to the experiment. If you win the challenge, you retain it. So conceivably a coach could win 15 challenges in a match by going to the video tape if the refs are really messing it up. It could reduce the use of challenges for, in effect, TOs...or not. It seems to me it could add a bunch of time to the matches. Only 2 challenges can be carried into the 5th...along with the extra 5th set challenge allowed. I got to say, I think it'll be a bad thing for the relationships with the refs...or not.

I think the B1G will adopt it, based on what the article says,
"The NCAA Women’s Volleyball Rules Committee said there is increasing support from coaches to allow teams to retain their challenge if the outcome is reversed... Based on data from last season, coaches would have lost their challenge 63% of the time. With only two challenges available for the experimental rule and a higher probability of losing the challenge, coaches may be more cautious as to when and what to challenge. This could reduce the current use of challenges as legal delay tactics."
My only complaint is that they also need to upgrade the equipment, if they want to test new rules. The challenge cameras have to be High Def. and have higher frame rates. The reason that 63% of challenges are lost is because the current camera quality is horrible. And, more importantly, camera upgrades would save the refs a ton of time during video review.
Also, as someone on VT mentioned: "If a call is inconclusive you should not lose your challenge. And this new rule should be the policy for NCAA Tournament matches, too."
