Expect to see a lot more of Allie Holland this season, as the sophomore middle blocker will likely take over Serena Gray’s spot in the starting lineup.

Sweet Caroline........
If anyone's following the European Football (Soccer) Championships, you'll know that England have reached the final on Sunday against Italy, having beaten Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Ukraine and Denmark en route. This is huge for us because we had previously lost every competitive match against Germany since we won the World Cup in 1966 and also because we've not made the final of any World Cup or Euro Champs since that World Cup win.
So what's the connection between this and Penn State volleyball?
Well, after the semi final win against Denmark, as the team were applauding the Wembley fans for their support, the resident DJ played Sweet Caroline and immediately there were 60,000 fans singing it! The last time I heard a crowd singing that was September 2019 when I was in Rec Hall for the Big10/Pac12 Challenge. Then, way into the night, English news bulletins were showing crowds of fans outside bars singing it some more!
Let's hope we get a repeat of all this when England play Italy in the final on Sunday at 8pm (3pm ET). There's rumours of Boris announcing a public holiday on Monday if we win!

Yes, David, considering the fact that I don't like soccer, I will be rooting for you, after all you root for good ole PSU it's only fitting that we reciprocate.

Very controversial PK awarded in the Semi - it's about time England had a little luck! Should be a fantastic Final. Italy is impressively good.

I've been following. Good luck to you all. Why did the DJ pick "Sweet Caroline" for England, though, is there something I'm missing?

No idea, West Ender - I watch a lot of football in England, either live or on TV, and I've never heard Sweet Caroline being sung. Is it a common sports anthem in the US or is it unique to Penn State?

It's pretty common. I've read that its sports-use originated with Penn State (it had to originate somewhere, right?) but that's only been from PSU-centric sources.

110,000 sing Sweet Caroline at PSU whiteout game: Thanks for posting that - truly amazing. Were you there? There'll be 90,000 at Wembley for the England vs Italy final tomorrow and I think there's a very good chance we'll be hearing Sweet Caroline at some point, especially if England win.

England up 1-0 from a 2nd minute goal by Luke Shaw.
Tied at 1 after a 67th minute goal by Leo Bonucci.
EDIT: Tied 1-1 after extra time. We are going to penalty kicks. Italy win in PK's 3-2. Sorry EngPSUFan.
