Awful news out of North Carolina A&T, Penn State’s first-round opponent in the NCAA tournament last spring. That's terrible news. What a difficult time for the family, teammates and friends of Fatimah Shabazz. I had a sudden death in my family when I was in high school. It's hard. |

I am so sorry to hear Fatimah Shabazz has died, so young, There is no rhyme or reason for the frailties of life, but I wish her family and friends the best, may they relish her life.

University of Texas has put together $10million fund to pay athletes on an annual basis. WVB is one of the five sports getting in on the action. Speculation is fund will grow much bigger and Texas athletes will be well paid to play. Football players rumored will be getting $100,000/year to start.
IMO this is the beginning of the end of amateur college sports.

I expect the next step will be to end the requirement for athletes to attend class. They will become university employees living on campus.

It seems, Serena, just made some digs about PSU coaching and teammates. In today's Pittsburgh Tribune, she says and I quote " When I was transferring I wasn't thinking yeah I want to go to the Final Four or win a national championship," Gray said."I just wanted to develop myself as a player and I wanted to be around teammates and a coaching staff that would facilitate my development as a player. This is beyond what I could have imagined." Well if that is not a dig at PSU coaches and teammates, I don't know what is.

I looked at her stats earlier this month. I think she's doing her best of the year. Happy she found her happy place; sorry Happy Valley was not it.

Now rooting for Pitt is off the table as far as I'm concerned, "GO LOUISVILLE" You may simply be rooting for Louisville to beat Wisconsin and Pitt to beat Nebraska, but my guess (and I certainly may be wrong, or very, very wrong) is that Wisconsin beats Louisville and Nebraska beats Pitt. And that actually would be my preference (I'm recanting a previous post). |
