Northwestern's high over beating MINN didn't last long. Northwestern beat Minn in Minn 3-2 for their first ever defeat of a top ten team on the road. Then NW lost to MI 1-3, beat Rutgers 3-0 (Rutgers or Iowa is probably the worst team in B1G), lost to OSU 1-3, and then lost to Maryland at Northwester, 0-3. This was only Maryland's 2nd win in the B1G. It looks like a possible reason for that loss is that Alexa Rousseau, NW's setter, didn't play against Maryland. I'm guessing she was hurt. The 2nd string setter is a freshman. That would also explain the huge difference in blocks. Maryland had 13 to NW's 3. Temi Thomas-Ailara, NW's big gun had a bad night, hitting 10-9-36 for a .028 hitting average.

Unexpected news... and weirdly timed announcement. I hope all is well with him and there's no back story. I thought he would lead Minnesota to at least 1 NCAA title before retiring/moving on. |

The timing does seem odd. Why not wait until right after the season ends. Will this have any impact on committed recruits and potential recruits? I suspect some of them will go into a holding pattern waiting for a new coach to be named.

Last night, NE beat down Purdue 3-0. If it makes us feel any better, the first 2 sets were somewhat competitive and then in set 3 P was down 23-12 before going on a bit of a run.

I look at Hord's numbers for Nebraska; 2-0-10 for .200 against PSU (she only had 9 blocks), 4-1-8 for .375 against NW, and 5-0-8 for .625 against PUR. What's with the NEB setters? The other MB Allick is getting 18, 14 & 13 attempts respectively. Hord should be getting at least that many attemps. I almost, almost, feel bad for Hord. I know, weeping crocodile tears! She should be getting at least as many attempts as Allick if not more. Can you imagine how much better NEB would be if Hord got more attempts. Don't get it. It is interesting that Hord's hitting % against PSU may have been her worst all season. Definitely shows that somebody on PSU had practiced against her, ya think?
Somebody on VT put a 1st team/2nd team All B1G together and Hord wasn't on it. Somebody said that Hord should be on it despite the lack of offense. What??? Hord can only hit what the setters set her. Sure wish she was still on PSU.
