We are way beyond the 100 service error mark -- 158. Also, #1) was always a pipe dream. I really don't even know why you put that one; it was Bellevue Hospital crazy! I said 100 less than the previous 4 years not 100 total.

I said 100 less than the previous 4 years not 100 total. Oh... sorry, didn't pay attention. That one requires work. Not so tough. 2014 - 290 service errors. So far in 2015 - 158 Service errors
For context 2014 243 aces, 2015 115 so far
aces/set 1.9 in 2015. 1.2 in 2015 so far

Is that the last 4 years combined or individually? First off, I couldn't find service errors for 2012 and 2011, hence the comment about requiring work (research). The PSU website only has the 2013 and 2014 stats, so thats 274 and 290, respectively. Are you saying PSU would have, say 174, 190, etc. or less service errors this year? I guess I got confused.

That's the hell of volleyball stats. When you're trying to do year-to-year comparison and there's... no data! I've gone through team statistics set-by-set to get cumulative totals; sometimes going to an opponent's website to fill in blanks. If we just look at 13 and 14 we can see cross5's predictions about service errors are in the right ballpark. I think the 2012 total might be in a piece I did for Nyline last year. 2011 stats are there for anybody that wants to go set-by-set.

Bigger problem is that the schools report the data to the conferences and the NCAA, and there's no precise standard. Some keep more stats than others and some have missing stats from match to match, no one body double checks to make sure all the data is reported properly.

Don't make a commitment to do anything statistical that involves Texas before 2013.

I have three reasons for that, but I can only remember two, so I'm not mentioning any.

Someone once said,"Figures don't lie but some liars keep figures." And someone once said,"Figures will say anything if you torture them enough." That is my drivel for today.
