A couple of people have had issues logging in. We didn't do anything other than install regular updates to Wordpress. If it happens to you, 1) empty your browser cache; 2) try a different browser, 3) if all else fails, delete your account and register again (you might have to use a new username, but if that's the only way, well, small price to pay for DigNittany, right?)

Good to see that cancelations don't hurt your RPI.

I loved this quote about Macy Van Den Elzen: "She’s a wonderful girl. She likes to read, so we talk about books. I recommend books to her and she reads them, then we talk about it. I like having somebody who I can have book conversations with, so that’s been nice.”

Thanks for your thoughts. IMO Rutgers is a cultural thing. They are not going to attract top domestic talent although they may be able to get some elite foreign players. Of course if they start getting good, US prep players will want to go there. Northwestern is not known as a volleyball school and it will take a lot to change that image. It seems like it would be hard to recruit players from Florida, Texas, and Cali. They would probably be players interested in Northwestern first and volleyball second. The one good thing prep volleyball is more popular than ever and there are an increasing number of kids coming out of high school with top level skills. My main concern is PSU keeping up with Neb, Minn, and Wis in recruiting. Nebraska's recruiting lately has been off the chart good. It just occurred to me that Nebraska in women's volleyball is a lot like Iowa in men's wrestling. Iowa has had a number of transfers in that have made them the favorite to win the NCAA championship. Nebraska in women's volleyball has had some of the same. A notable transfer is Lexi Sun. I get the impression that Coach's reputation might scare some people away. Which, I think, is a bad rap on him. He's a tough coach but one who inspires tremendous loyalty. One person commented about Coach, "His players would walk on coals for him. You don't get that kind of result by denigrating your players." You never see him throwing a player "under the bus" as some coaches have. It's almost impossible to get him to list players who played poorly or who may have cost them a game. He just won't do it. His wife mentioned that she always thought that former players would keep in contact with their college coach until she ran across a number of players to whom that was a foreign thought. Coach keeps in close contact with, if not all, a very large number of former players.

I did an interview with Coach Rose a number of years ago in his office. The interview itself was about 30 minutes, but actual elapsed time was about an hour. That extra 30 minutes was due in large part to the near-constant stream of former players calling and, in a couple of instances, visiting in person. I was only privy to Coach's side of the phone conversations, but the affection and pleasure he felt in speaking with the players was obvious. The visits were the same, except I could hear both sides of the conversation. Based on that experience, I'd say yes, Rose is really close with his former players, and they are really fond of him.

I mentioned before that my daughter took a class with him and still thinks he's the best. This was several years ago. I can't imagine what it would be like to actually play for him.
