Just finished watching the Louisville vs KY match. Louisville won in 5, 20-25, 25-15, 26-24, 24-26 and 15-11. Should have won in 4 as Louis was up 22-18 and then got outscored 8-2 for the last 10 pts. First set was all KY as they outhit Louis .444 to .333, not a lot of defense or blocking. Louis brought their defense in the 2nd set and held KY to .059 hitting to win easily 25-15. The next set was pretty even. Biggest lead was 3 early on and 2 for the last half of the game, with Louis pulling it out 26-24. To be fair, KY should have won the 3rd set as they were up 23-21 and then Louis went on a 5-1 run to win the set. The fourth set was pulled out by KY on a 8-2 run to win 26-24. The fifth set was mostly Louis as they went out to a 2 pt lead, 3-1, and then KY tied it up at 4. Louis then made their way to a 8-5 lead, and KY came back within 1 to 8-7. Louis was able to extend the lead to 12-8, which KY could only get back to 12-10, with Louis finishing it off at 15-11. It was sort of annoying that the announcers were trumpeting KY's hitting average, (something like .341), as being the best in the NCAA this year. So what? Like everybody else, KY played their share of not so good teams. I tend to ignore the pre-season stats as they don't mean a whole lot. Show me the conference stats and then I'll be impressed (or not ).

Penn State are of course my no.1 team after my visit to Rec Hall in 2019, but I've been watching Louisville and Kentucky on ESPN Player in England since 2017 and they've always been 'must watch' teams for me. Their match this week was terrific entertainment and I think Louisville's 3-2 win was the right result as they were marginally the better team on the night. I understand it was ESPN's first nationwide broadcast of a regular season womens college volleyball match. What a superb advert for the sport!
I love having the BIG10 coverage on Volleyball World TV in England - first time it's been available over here. Stanford looked very good beating Nebraska in front of 8000 hostile fans. Wisconsin are hoping to set an an attendance record when they host Florida tomorrow. 17,500 is the prediction. Looking forward to that one!

I'm beginning to think that the person on the "other volleyball forum" who said that there is Texas and 24 other teams was right. I'm also thinking that the B1G teams are a bit overrated (of course except for PSU ). Nebraska lost to Stanford 3-1 with their offense all over the place. Minn lost to Texas, beat Florida, then lost to Stanford and then Pepperdine who is ranked 22. Wisconsin has lost to Baylor and is now down to Florida 2 sets and is down in the 3rd set 16-13. Go figure. I'm beginning to think that the B1G title is up for grabs. Any one of 5-6 teams could win it. Ohio State is also in the mix having won some really good games but also has lost 3 so far; 2 to Texas and 1 to San Diego. But they then beat Louisville, BYU and Georgia Tech. Granted, BYU was probably overriated at the beginning of the year. Should prove to be a VERY interesting year. Whoever is hot at the end of the year will give Texas a run for the money. Now FLorida is up 19-14 in the 3rd against Wisc.

Well, Wisc was able to make it back in the 3rd & 4th sets, but lost to Florida in the 5th; 25-21, 25-18, 26-28, 13-25 and 15-13. Florida was up 19-14 in the 3rd and Wisc was able to come back to win it 28-26. The B1G is not gonna look quite so good in the next poll. Seems like there are no dominant teams other than Texas.
P.S. Was a real slug fest. Both teams hit .115 for the match. Smrek(WI) hit .077 on 6-5-13 hitting and Sarah Franklin(WI) hit .086 on 10-07-35 hitting.

Watched the last 3 sets of the Louisville vs Stanford match. The "Cardinal" vs the "Cardinals". I was able to watch it free on pac-12.com/live?networks=P12I, which is called Pac-12 Insider. I got this from the "other forum". It seems that this link is free to anyone in the US. There doesn't appear to be any videos on demand, so have to watch it real time. Oh, and this is the first time that these two teams have met. Louisville took the match in 4 sets, 26-24, 27-25, 14-25 and 25-13. Sorta strange that the first two sets were so close and then the last two sets were blowouts, 1 each way. The hitting was reasonably close; Louisville hit .222 and Stanford hit .197; hitting errs likewise with Louisville having 21 hitting errs and Stanford 23. Louisville out blocked Stanford 14 to 10. It always surprises me that Stanford doesn't have more blocks considering the height they have; Francis is 6'6", Kipp is 6'5", Catie Baird is 6'3". I think that there's something in the Stanford college constitution that they can't field a women's volleyball team unless they have at least one player 6'6" or over . First two sets were very close, multiple ties and a bunch of side-outs. Like I said, the 3rd and 4th sets were blowouts. So via the Volleyball Associative law, Louisville should be a bit better than PSU . I don't put KY in this category, (Louisville beat KY 3-2 a few days ago), because they have such a rivalry that it doesn't matter a lot if one team is down or not. Looking forward to Louisville vs Pitt and Louisville vs Georgia Tech during the ACC season.

Color me confused. On 1/11/22 IIRC, Dignittany posted about her appt as an assistant coach for University of Texas.

Yeah Larson lasted about a month as volunteer assistant for Texas and then left without any public reason given that I'm aware of. Anyone know why she left Texas; personal family issue? decided Texas not the right fit for her?
