Did anyone post on this board #3 Wisconsin lost to Baylor. That really surprises me. That surprises me too. Was it at Baylor? Doesn't surprise me that much. While Wisc will have an excellent team this year, it's gonna take them some time to mesh. New setter, new hitters (lost Rettke and Loberg but gained Sarah Franklin from Mich St) and a new back court. IF their setter is good and their back court develops, they'll be in the mix at the end of the year. Kelly will earn his paycheck this year; tho there are tougher places to be.
This does make me think of one of the BIG downsides of the portal. The rich are gonna get richer and the rest of the crowd will have trouble competing. Look at Nebraska, Texas and Wisc (when you add Sarah Franklin to Wisc' mix). Yeah, these teams all needed help. NOT. I can see a lot of players transferring to top 10 teams to win a championship. The NCAA Div 1 volleyball could start looking like the NBA. Where do 2 or 3 superstars go to win a championship? Look at Kaitlin Hord. Hurray. Won't that be fun. And now, Texas can get via the portal what they couldn't do by recruiting; a good back court.
Granted, this is a tad hypocritical, as where would PSU be this year w/o the portal? But, I wouldn't be surprised to see Texas, Neb and Wisc in the top 5 or 6 for the next 5 -10 years. Add this to the NIL mess about which NCAA is putting their head in the sand. Oh well. I'm thinking that RR had really good timing getting out when he did.

Have pity on Stanford. It's virtually impossible to get admitted as an undergrad transfer (approx 1%). WVB doesn't even try for undergrad transfers. Only hope is grad students who get admitted and then approach WVB team to play. Transfer portal is not an option.
I agree that the most elite players who want to transfer are going to favor top 10 teams except in few cases where a player wants to be closer to hometown.
Also NIL will make a small percentage of players rich and most others get little to nothing.

Have pity on Stanford.... Sorry, that's not in my genes. It seems like Stanford's had the top 1 or 2 recruiting classes for the last 10 years. Oh darn. But on the other hand, my other two "favorite teams", Neb and TX will be some of the teams getting the top quality transfers. Like many others on this forum, my three favorite teams are PSU, and whoever is playing Neb or TX. (Some would substitute Wisc).
