… I challenge everyone to rewatch this one and look at things that don’t show up on the stat sheet. Kudos to a fellow poster for picking up on the M1/M2 change. I too think that had a big impact. The change in opposites happened down 11-15 in the 3rd and it was highly effective. I’ll go out and say the staff wasn’t looking for more offense with that change but actually a better block. If you want stats to validate it you have to look at the efficiency of UKs left sides in the first 2.5 sets vs the last 2.5. Effective blocking isn’t just about scoring points with a stuff block, but that is what shows up on our stat sheet. CJ was getting tooled and not getting good touches, and UKs outsides were unstoppable. After the change, their efficiency dropped dramatically, and they started running their offense through their RS, back row, and middles. I can only remember Markley getting tooled once and the bigger block forced them to tip, and hit cross, and our defense was able to pick up those tips and other types of attacks as they played away from her where as they had been challenging CJ. It also makes more sense out of why Izzy didn’t set Markley more. The change was defensive in nature and we stuck with what was working offensively, and Cam and the middles delivered, while UKs efficiency by set went .200, .231, .244, then .200, -.105 This is an excellent example of an in game adjustment that our depth allows us to make and a reason to be very excited about the potential this season holds. BTW I noticed last night that the live stats play-by-play tries to log every touch on the ball… no longer just the final outcome. I bet we could verify how many unscored block touches resulted from the sub. Falduto — heck the whole backcourt — looked so much cleaner by set 4.

Penn State has already packed their bags. — warm up the bus. Oh ye of little faith. It's never over till it's over. Funny old game innit. Never give up. Fight to the end. You never know what might happen. Don't give up, they think they've already won. We can turn this round....... In some ways this was a better win than the crushing of Louisville because Kentucky had us staring at a 3-0 loss, so to come back and win shows the immense character of this group of talented young women. Can't get ESPN in the UK so had to watch it today on YouTube and the channel got hacked on match point so didn't see the end. Hopefully there will be a clip of the winning point at the end of this thread.

KY up 15-10 on kill down left line. Media TO. KY hitters are doing well; PSU can't buy a kill. I hate to say it, but it looks like PSU is toast at this point in time. Oh dear jojonito, I've just finished watching us win it on YouTube. You should know that sport is so unpredictable - it's never over till it's over etc etc.... see more versions of this in my reply to an earlier poster.
