Imagine being a Nebraska fan (I know that's difficult) and being in attendance Thursday evening for a big win, then waiting in Tampa on Friday and Saturday and until Sunday afternoon, and watching your team get blown out as a #1 seed. That's got to hurt in the head and the wallet.

Is it just me or did John Cook seem kind of disinterested at times during the match? I think he's been coaching long enough to know when you are beat. Texas was winning the serve, pass, and hitting efficiency battle in all 3 sets. Nebraska has not been a good serving team this season, so they needed to win transition points, but the Longhorns defense was just too good tonight. I watched his presser, it was mostly pretty good and respectful, but I had to chuckle at his digs regarding Texas using the portal and O'Neal being a national team player. Like what?! As we've seen with John Cook's comments about the transfer portable its only a good thing when it benefits his team(Hord & Beason), not when they loose. I also found the O'Neal comment amusing cause yeah on paper it does not look fair that a bunch of 19 year olds got beat by a 23 year old but again would not be an issue for JC when he was pushing for a 6th year for Kayla Caffey.

Yep, and you can bet he'd push his current, fantastic freshman class to play 7 years, if he could.

Yep, and you can bet he'd push his current, fantastic freshman class to play 7 years, if he could. 18-year-old Levi Haines lost the 157-pound national championship match last March to a 24-year-old from UNC, Austin O'Connor. O'Connor enrolled in college when Haines was entering seventh grade. I'll be very glad when all the beneficiaries of the Covid extra year across all sports have used their eligibility (I almost wrote "graduated"). It was a solution that only the NCAA could have come up with and offered no relief to those really affected--fourth-year seniors in 2020 winter/spring sports.

Is it just me or did John Cook seem kind of disinterested at times during the match? He was wistful as he watched his dreams of four consecutive national championships with this freshman class get swept away. It seemed to me that this wasn't as good a NEB team as in prior years, specifically in the serve and receive areas. I'm not sure virtually any team in the past 4 years could have served NEG (freudian slip ) off the court like TX did. I probably dislike TX more than NEB, and I kept waiting for the serving of TX to level off. But it never did. They were able to keep their serving at a very high level for the last two matchs. (Don't know about the previous matches as didn't watch them). NEB could never get into their offense. My opionion is that the youth of the NEB team was what did them in. Not to take anything away from TX. They were by far the best team at the end of the year. Not even close.
