i believe he had Penn State at 6....most importantly behind OSU!!! Is that just honesty, or is there some strategy involved? Educate me!
I only view the ballots of people who's names i recognize...so it was a limited amount. But I saw PSU ranked as high as 4 and low as 7. most had a repeat of last week's rankings for the top five.
Had not known Stanford had struggled so. Even so, they are still hovering between 9-12 on most the ballots, although I think Dunning was harshest.

Going against the exact same opponents in exactly same home/away format. OSU is 7-1 and PSU 6-2. I understand his thinking. OSU9/23/15 vs. Minnesota * TV Columbus, Ohio L, 3-2 09/27/15 vs. Wisconsin * TV Columbus, Ohio W, 3-2 10/02/15 vs. Iowa * TV Columbus, Ohio W, 3-1 10/03/15 vs. Nebraska * TV Columbus, Ohio W, 3-2 10/09/15 at Northwestern * TV Evanston, Ill. W, 3-0 10/10/15 at Illinois * TV Champaign, Ill. I just think many are little more harsher when it comes to PSU as they are the defending champion. Compare to those who are PSU supporters, there are many more who want someone else to be on the top and that's totally understandable. Ranking will pan out at the end of the season as there are many more games to play. I just hope they'll reflect the result of the games instead of their personal feelings.

I'll give you that; but looking at the whole season, not sure taking on Arizona was the same as PSU taking on #2 Stanford. How do 4- and 5- setters figure in? 3 of OSU victories were 5-setters, only 1 sweep. PSU: 1 5-set win, 4 sweeps. Or is that too granular? It took OSU 5 sets to beat BIG #1 Purdue; PSU swept; same earlier with the 14 BIG champ Wisc. I'll give OSU momentum, for whatever difference that makes. and in another 10 days we'll have better data!! thanks.

But, I think he would not concede to anyone. Coach Rose is looking forward to proving many wrong. I just hope Courtney is there to be the leader for him.

6th - Behind Ohio State. If we take them both matches. That will change.

DIII POLL...JUNIATA. Ever hear of them? DIII. Rated #1 in nation in the AVCA October 20 poll. 24-1. 30 minutes south of State College on Rt. 26. Went to see their tournament week before last, while waiting for the Purdue game. Gym: empty except for a very few townies and parents. Thought maybe that's because of the students being on fall break. Fall break??! According to one PSU fan w/a relative on the Juanita team, it's like this even when students aren't on break. Juanita is only ~1800 students. So: next time you're in the area, see if they're playing. (although the DIII season ends sooner than DI) BTW, coach Rose has held a series of summer camps at Juniata for years...and part of why i'm aware of this.

DI poll: Moving day!
PSU back to #3.; Minnesota, welcome to the top 5. Nebraska booted down to 9. OSU booted to 11. Michigan State: you can beat #6 OSU but you still can't get no respect...or at least not enough. IL and Purdue declined and advanced slightly, respectively.
Texas and USC...remain as you were... [and number 22, W KY... only these 3 teams stand where they were last week. wowser]

Fans in meltdown, take note.

Wish they added some more metrics to the equation, an algorithm where even fan votes count. Just kidding, but they should look at it. Seeding for the tourney seems a little biased every year. Even Karch mentioned last year how PSU had not received the respect they deserved with the seeding. PSU had to play Stanford in 2013 and 2014 to get to the finals, and both teams were arguably the strongest teams in the tourney both years.

well thank whoever that the national champion is not picked by polls. otherwise with all the bias against penn state they would not have the championships they do. Just ask the 1994 football team about that.

Using RPI--when it produces Florida as Number 1--for seeding a tournament is a problem. This issue gets addressed every couple weeks on Volleytalk and we're as likely to fix the situation as they are. Nevertheless, it is fun to discuss. We can only hope that PSU's seeding puts them in a close regional that's somewhat balanced. Despite facing Stanford before the final the last two years, it's really difficult to complain. Things did turn out well.

The latest RPI rankings were just released. Here they are:
1) USC 2) Texas 3) Florida 4) Penn State 5) Minnesota 6) Ohio State 7) UCLA 8) Kansas 9) Nebraska 10) Washington
Looks like PSU is getting a top seed in the Regionals if these results hold. Seems a little more reasonable; Florida moved to #3 from #1.

In the poll, USC and PSU tied. In total adjusted points, PSU edges out first place. Texas fell to 5. OSU's losses didn't do much damage...pays, if you lose, to lose to #1.
