And the AVCA D1 poll for 11/02/15 is . Just click on the photo to open up a larger version. Not sure I expected this. I think the voters are looking at the actual match results and opponents and not just wins vs losses. I really didn't expect USC to drop out of 1st. I still think they should have retained the #1 spot with only 1 loss. Waiting to see who voted who... PSU and USC both received 27 first place votes, I'm very curious to see what the top coaches voted. I get the feeling we'll see the West supporting PAC12 and the East supporting BIG10.

Poll ballots are still pending. Be interesting to see who voted for Penn State. I would think Russ would vote his team #2.

I guess the only way to deal with the situation is to stay undefeated for the remainder of the year.

The ballots are in and at least 4 respected coaches (i.e., Sheffield, Rose, Dunning, and Haley) all voted USC # 1. Actually, Russ Rose voted PSU # 3, which I think was interesting.

I thought he would vote #2 but I can see his reasoning for #3 because Washington beat USC. Dave Soji from Hawaii also voted us #1. There was 1 BIG 10 Coach voted us #1 - Shondell(Purdue). Two votes for MN #1 which I think both of those are head scratchers - {Debbie Humphreys(Stephen F. Austin) and Venessa Jacobs(Southern University)} since both of them had MN below Penn State the week before. Humphreys had MN at #7 last week and Jacobs had MN at #5. MN played then #17 Purdue and unranked Indiana whereas we played then ranked #11 Ohio State (twice). I'm just glad this poll has no bearing on seeding or we may see some injustices like in Football!

If AVCA poll was treated like the NCAA football polls, those coaches would be called out on social media right away. I know it's mostly a personal opinion poll, but some of them are so outrageous or downright ridiculous.

But let's think about who "we" are. We're sorta on the fringe of the fringe. This is an excellent forum, and there essentially haven't been any "joiners" for the last couple months. We're very fortunate to have a safe place where we can indulge ourselves. And I don't care what my wife and granddaughter say, it's a lot better than being a furry.

OK. I gota know. What's a "furry." Correction: What's a "furry"? People who dress up as furry animals and frolic--taking on animal behavioral quirks and I've heard, they also do the mating thing.
Give me women's volleyball any day.

Well, dropping a set to Maryland appears to have been viewed as a good thing -- Penn State picked up 1st place votes, while USC, Washington and Minnesota all lost votes. Week 11: 11-9-15 AVCA Poll

Nyline, you are an experienced, knowledgeable observer...do you think PSU is the top team at this time, better than USC and Wash.?
Minnesota match will tell us a lot I think.

Well, dropping a set to Maryland appears to have been viewed as a good thing -- Penn State picked up 1st place votes, while USC, Washington and Minnesota all lost votes. Week 11: 11-9-15 AVCA Polli wonder if they drilled down to some of the still very impressive stats for the season, rather than watching. watching the matches didn't give us/me the same feelings of domination.
